DownloadThis year the SGC Scholarship Committee has selected Ellie Kennedy of Sandown as the recipient of its annual scholarship.
During high school, Ellie participated in the National Honor Society, the Science Honor Society, the English Honor Society and the Key Club. As a Girl Scout, she found her love of the environment through camping every year. To earn her Silver Award, Ellie took part in a project to build raised garden beds at the Plaistow Library. She has volunteered her time at numerous libraries in the school district and has participated in many food and clothing drives. Her hobbies include tending to her many houseplants and going thrifting with friends. Ellie plans on attending the University of Vermont where she will major in Molecular Genetics and minor in Plant Biology. The Sandown Garden Club is very proud to have Ellie as this year’s scholarship recipient. The SGC is grateful to the community which supports its annual Plant Sale, the club’s only fundraiser. Proceeds from this sale are used for scholarships, library donations, food pantry support, holiday decorations, civic beautification and special projects.

In late June 2022, the Ed Garvey Rec Center got a nice outdoor facelift from SGC. Members removed a dying azalea and an invasive autumn olive in the center’s front walkway, and replaced them with a spirea bush. Daylilies and irises were also planted to add spring and summer color.
Huge thanks to our SGC officers Fran Rosenau, Halinka Vail

Huge thanks to our SGC officers Fran Rosenau, Halinka Vail, Alison Hartung, and Asteria Dauphinais. Digging out buckets of rocks was incredibly frustrating, but the ladies persisted and prevailed!
